Tara got her start in the tour and hospitality business in 2001 working in the ski industry.  By 2010 she was ready for a new adventure and was selected to serve in the US Peace Corps and was sent to Guatemala to work in Sustainable Community Tourism.  During her time in Guatemala, family and friends came to visit and Tara took them around the country to visit the amazing hidden treasures of the country.  After the trips, everyone said the same thing, “we never would have found any of this without you.”

The idea for a business was born.  Tara decided to stay in Guatemala after her service and in 2012, Viva Adventures was born with the goal of taking clients out into the real country and experiencing the life and adventure from outside the walls of big resorts and theme parks.  We get to know the people, eat the local cuisine, stay in smaller hotels and cabins and experience the thrill of the unknown firsthand.
In 2015, Tara decided to move the business base to Costa Rica to be closer to the waves she loves to surf.  Having traveled extensively through all of Central America, Tara knows this part of the world very well, from the culture to the language to safety.  She knows all the best places and is excited to put together an amazing itinerary for you.  Whether you want a self-guided itinerary or would like to hire Tara or one of Viva Adventure’s personal guides to be with you the whole time, we’ve got you covered.

You’re in good hands with Viva Adventures as we live here, travel frequently and are always checking out new spots.
